Frequently Asked Questions

What is a startup?

Perhaps the most popular definition of a startup is from Eric Ries, the creator of the Lean Startup methodology: “A startup is a human institution designed to create a new product or service under conditions of extreme uncertainty.”

We can also add: “A startup company, or simply a startup, is an entrepreneurial venture in its early stages of operations often initially bankrolled by their entrepreneurial founders typically aimed at resolving a real life issue with an innovative product or service for which they believe there is a demand.”

What should I include in my pitching?

Depending on who do you present to, there are different types of pitching but overall you have to speak about the following - problem, solution, market size, product, development plan, business model, market adoption, competitors, competative advantages, team, and finally what is your goal of presenting (asking for investment, customer aqusition or feedback).

What’s the goal of Startup Stage?

Members with an annual subscription get access to deals - tools and discounts from AWS, Stripe, Hubspot, etc.

Who is eligible to join?

What is startup pitching session?

A pitch session is a rare and invaluable opportunity to sit in front of people and to present them your startup.

Invaluable because it teaches you skills crucially important when you sell your product in front of investors and prospective customers.

The other benefit of the startup pitching is that it helps you to look at your business out of the box. Overall it gives you a different perspective, it improves your skills and gives you clarity.

What is 1-on-1 mastermind group?

A mastermind group is a peer-to-peer mentoring group used to help members solve their problems with input and advice from the other group members.

At Startup Stage we organize regular online 1-on-1 mastermind sessions where founders of two startups brainstorm business cases with the ultimate goal to find solutions.

The reason we decided to do 1-on-1 sessions is because they give biggest value to founders in contrast to bigger groups.

What is the time commitment?

It's up to you. The level of your dedication will bring the corresponding results.

If I’m doing a startup, why should I bother with this? What do I get out of it?

If you’re doing a startup, the pitching sessions and the 1-on-1 mastermind groups will give your clarity and skills you will definitely need in your journey of building a company.

A small piece of advice if you would allow. Try and see for yourself. You can always leave and never come back.
