Frequently Asked Questions

What is a startup?

Perhaps the most popular definition of a startup is from Eric Ries, the creator of the Lean Startup methodology: “A startup is a human institution designed to create a new product or service under conditions of extreme uncertainty.”

We can also add: “A startup company, or simply a startup, is an entrepreneurial venture in its early stages of operations often initially bankrolled by their entrepreneurial founders typically aimed at resolving a real life issue with an innovative product or service for which they believe there is a demand.”

Is there a cost to the program?

Startup Stage is split into two stages - Stage 1 and Stage 2.

Stage 1 includes free participation of founders in startup pitching sessions and detailed reports of the feedback given to them by attendees.

Stage 2 includes mentoring and deals (discounted or free services and products) provided by third-party companies. Stage 2 is accessible to startups after paying an annual membership fee.

Who is eligible for the program?

Startup Stage is open to all founders currently working on a startup, or founders about to start one.
